Estate Manager or
Major Domo
Candidates for these positions must have a business administrative background
and extensive experience in the resort/hotel industry and/or managing several
private homes. Also require managerial skills. Higher education
preferred. The duties of an Estate Manager or Major Domo include but are
not limited to:
- Manage and administrate operations of multiple properties for
employer.
- Work closely with Butlers at each estate or home, and the
Personal Assistant.
- Monitor and may manage the household budgets at each
location.
- System and Procedure development
- Oversee and monitor the household bank account(s) with business
accountant(s).
- Oversee the proper cross-training of employees at each
property.
- Create household reference manuals for each
property.
- Act as a consultant to Butlers.
- Oversee the planning of
large social engagements in the home.
- Oversee major renovation,
design and construction and land altering projects, and family relocation
process, in addition, as requested, acts as
liaison between employers and contractors.
- Oversee the art and antique
collections at each property and act as liaison between employers and
curators.
- Oversee security requirements.
- Should be computer literate and understand the need for technology
services.
- May oversee entire
household staff and administration related thereto if there are limited
properties.
- Travel is required between
homes.
Gardener
In charge of all landscaping and horticultural responsibilities. Maintenance
of gardens and driveways. Knowledge of perennial propagation from seed, cutting and
division. Nursery experience a plus. Equipment
maintenance for outdoor machinery and tools. Director of landscape and
garden development possibly for multiple residences.
